    the reason for the portables running the plug temp up is the molded plug on your appliance extension cord. the gfci on all of them provides a far better internal connection and doesnt heat up, the fridgidare uses the same amount of power as the whynter as they are the same capacity.

    Please make that other video! I have a propane/isobutane stove and I'm thinking of getting an alcohol stove. Maybe an overall comparison between the two systems? Efficiency, weight, simplicity, availability. Isobutane canisters are almost impossible to find, I had to buy a Lixada adapter so I can connect my MSR Pocket Rocket to a Coleman propane tank

    My father in law bought this tent when my husband was a kid. They used it through his whole childhood and then when we got married we began to use it. We used it for another 10 years (the tent now 25years old) before retiring it and bought ourselves a new one (same tent) it's been through every kind of weather and we have always been dry and warm! Will never own anything different. We also have the vestibule and full rain fly

    My Rucas burns much longer & has never taken that long to bloom. Of course a priming pan, I use a can lid, helps any stove bloom quicker.

    When I was a Marine we used these stoves on our many trips to Greenland. We had one stove per two Marines and we bet our lives on them. They always came through. They cooked our meals, kept us warm, and dried out our wet gear in the tent! I love this little stove and bought one a few years back. They say a certain Folgers coffee container fits this stove, but I have not been able to find it. Trying to buy the original Coleman case is near impossible, so I bought a metal pot that kind of fits it. Great video! Thanks!😊

    So I have a question maybe you can help me with. I have a high flow ball value and 100ft 3/4 inch hose that at best flows approx 15 gpm at about 90 psi. I brought a high flow nozzle but it seems weak in the spray patterns almost like I dont have enough flow. I think I may have better luck with the low flow since it claims 12-19 gpm whereas the high flow claims 15-40 gpm. I noticed you were yielding approx 23 gpm so maybe the high flow benefits you more. Do you think a high flow helps if you can't provide more than 15 gpm? Only other option is buy both and test them. Thanks again

    • @FindingOurAdventure
      @FindingOurAdventure 4 місяці тому

      at 90PSI you should probably run a 1" high flow ball valve. Reason being is the internal diameter of the 1" ball valve is actually 3/4", exactly matching the diameter of the brass tubing that runs to your home. If you run a 1" high flow ball valve instead of the smaller one you likely have, you will increase your GPH output and be able to run the higher flow nozzle without a weak spray pattern. I note this because I used to run a 3/4" ball valve and had the same issue, jumped up to a 1" valve and I increased my GPH tremendously.

    I own this tent. It’s an absolute bomb shelter. The first time we used it was on a hunting trip in Wyoming during an incredible blizzard. One hec of a trial run. We spent three days in that tent during extreme cold and serious winds (some winds reportedly exceeded 50MPH) outside. There were a couple times we thought the tent was going to take off like a rocket. It never did. It did outstanding. We did have every single tie down point utilized (there are alot of them too). We were very impressed. We had two cots, a folding table, a buddy heater and all of our hunting gear in it. Plenty of room for two hunters to operate out of it for extended periods. I will say this, it is kind of a PIA to set up. Two people make it much easier. I have had this tent for over 10 years and have had no issues except needing to replace the rain fly. It got ripped because I was careless setting it up one time. Cabelas will sell you a new fly. It’s freaking ridiculous how bomb proof this thing is. It can be a bit warm in the summer with the rain fly all buttoned up. My buddy just purchased the 4- man version of this for overland camping.

    Those Coghlan Al tent stakes use a cheaper Al that is way softer and weaker than the 7075 and 7001 and specially tempered Al alloys that cost more that Easton, MSR, DAC, etc use. The MSR Cyclones are a beast that work well in a variety of conditions, but at MUCH lighter weight than the steel 12" ones. I do wish that MSR and other companies that use the high end Al alloys, made these longer and a bit cheaper though. The Cyclones in particular are quite expensive.

    We use 200mm - 250mm screw in pegs in Australia driven in with a cordless drill. 5 or 6mm guy ropes. Also use heavy springs at the base of the guy ropes to allow some movement on the D cover material shackle. Also a guy rope on the actual frame x 4 sides, so 2 per leg. Also base plates on the base of the 4 legs, 3 screw in pegs per plate. Get pretty windy on the coast 😊

    1:30 and 1:48 Correction, propane does perform well below freezing, Butane does not. Isobutane is better than Butane by 20 degrees, not close to Propane. See the below the boiling points of Butane, Propane, and gasoline: Butane: Boiling point of butane is -2 degrees Celsius (28.4 Fahrenheit). It is the reason butane gas cylinder might not work as effectively in colder weather as low temperatures make it difficult to produce gas vapor. Propane: Boiling temperature of propane is -42.04 Celsius (-43.672 Fahrenheit). It is the reason propane for fuel is considerably better than Butane. Isobutane: Boiling point is -11.7 Celsius, 10.94 Fahrenheit. In cold weather Isobutane is better than straight Butane, however not as good as Propane. Isobutane is a blend of Butane and Propane. Gasoline: Different elements of the fuel are made from unique molecules, which will become more solid at different times. You could probably give it a range of about -40 and -200 degrees Fahrenheit, with most of it freezing at -100 degrees. Also, there are debates about which grade gasoline to use in dual fuel stoves. Some say high octane fuel is better for dual fuel stoves than regular gasoline. Their reasoning, higher octane gasoline contains more cleaning additive for engines than Regular (low octane) gas which will keep the dual fuel generator cleaner longer. Coleman's manual recommends regular grade. Another debate is which gasoline should be burned, gasoline with Ethanol or without? So many questions, so little time.

Both surplus choices look great for layering. I always buy guy gear for situations where need stuff to perform. It’s good to test gear out. Thx for taking time to film & post.
